Training and Education
Louise Mai read English at Selwyn College Cambridge where she received a BA Hons and MA. She later studied for an art foundation at Central St Martin’s before training at East 15 Acting School. Louise Mai also holds a yoga teaching qualification from the International Sivananda Organisation and is a qualified hypnotherapist.
After leaving Cambridge Louise Mai embarked on a career as an npd and innovation consultant at ?What If! specialising in consumer awareness. As a project leader she developed and managed creative processes from concept to product launch (idea generation, strategic planning, designing and facilitating creativity workshops) for blue-chip FMCG companies including: Arcadia, BAA, BBC, Britannia, Diageo, McVitie’s, N&P, PepsiCo, Virgin.
Since becoming a professional actor in 2000 she has worked in theatre, television and voiceover, most notably for the RSC, BBC, ITV, Bristol Old Vic, Leicester Haymarket, Birmingham Rep as well as a number of touring companies. Louise Mai enjoys working with young people and she has done No.1 tours of “The Gruffalo” and “The Snow Dragon”. She is a regular character on “Clifford’s Puppy Days” for CBeebies. She is also an experienced theatre-in-education facilitator and workshop leader.
Louise Mai’s corporate role play and training experience includes a 2 year award-winning global project “Making the Most of Difference” for the FCO. Other specialist Diversity and Inclusion projects for senior leaders include Cisco Systems and BP. She has worked on Leadership Assessment Centres for global managers and senior leaders with DMGT, BAA and the OFT. She is an experienced actor in Difficult Conversations and Leadership Styles training programmes for Merck, Sodexo, McKinsey, Petro-Geo Systems and Novo Nordisk. Louise Mai is the main female actor for FocalVocal’s Acclimatising to China course with our Hong Kong based training partner Focus Honour.
