Training and Education
Anthony joined the National Youth Theatre and then trained at R.A.D.A.
After graduating from R.A.D.A Anthony went straight into the West End playing the title role in Zigger Zagger. He later joined the Young Vic Theatre Company and played in eight productions that included Caesar in Anthony and Cleopatra and Macduff in Macbeth. As a touring actor he has worked in the Far East playing Prince Hal in Henry IV, parts 1 and 2 and with the London Shakespeare Group performed Macbeth across Iraq, Bangladesh, Korea, Japan and Africa. An indisputable highlight of the tour was performing for the Masai, an open air performance of the Bards Scottish play, in the foothills of Mt Kilimanjaro!
Other theatre credits have included The Soldier in Brendan Behan's The Hostage directed by Richard Eyre, Bobby in American Buffalo at the National Theatre, Hamlet in Hamlet and Captain Plume in The Recruiting Officer at the Northcott Theatre, Exeter, Richard II, Gloo Joo, Withdrawal Symptoms, A Chorus of Disapproval, Marino Faliero, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead, The Launderette, A Last Belch for the Great Auk and The Nuns which he also directed at the Roundhouse.
As a television actor Anthony’s credits are extensive and include The Tenant of Wildfell Hall , No Trams to Lime Street (musical version), Z Cars, Casualty, The Double Deckers, Juliet Bravo, Dickens of London, The Bill, London's Burning, Anna Lee, The Paradise Club, El Cid, Bulman, Between the Lines, Softly Softly, Rockliffe's Babies, Minder, All Quiet on the Preston Front, Chandler and Co, Boon, Coronation Street, The Dream Team, The Hutton Enquiry, The Ice House and Messiah.
In films he has starred as Richard Cromwell in Cromwell, in No Blade of Grass, the short cult film Les Bicyclettes de Belsize and as Fletcher Christian in They Ran Before The Wind. Other films have included Isadora, Michael Kohlaas, The Triple Echo, Murder by Decree, McVicar, Zinotchka and Squaring the Circle.
As a role-play actor Anthony most recently played a butcher for Fishers in Gerrards Cross, a FocalVocal client. He has, however, performed in over 20 training films for major corporations which have included Shell, Rank Xerox, The Post Office, BP, Inland Revenue and Glaxo and numerous voice-overs for British Aerospace, Ford, British Telecom, Barclays, Daily Mail, Daily Mirror, Sunday Times, The Observer' and British Airways.
Recently Anthony played the Queen Elizabeth Hall reading the poetry of the Sufi mystic Rumi, set to music and despite his jovial manner, is the voice of The King of the Dead in The Lord of the Rings!
